James, the brother of Jesus once said,
“Life is like a mist.
It appears for a little while and then vanishes.”
Being in the F&B Industry, we are seen as the Service Provider, whereby you, readers / guests of the restaurants; are the Consumers. However, because we are in the “people industry”, there are times whereby our regular guests became our acquaintance, and for some, subsequently, friends.
Can friendships develop from a mere
Service Provider – Consumer relationship?
Sure; but when and how?
Well, I don’t really know until today.
Perhaps........
Grief – the sharing of grief, I realized today………
may be one indicator.
Strangely, when I was ordering the wreath, I couldn’t bring myself to order the usual arrangement with standees. I also couldn’t bring myself to even put the name of the restaurant down on the card.
This time, emotions are involved.
Instead of the standard practices, I
• handwrote the note….
• omitted the name of the restaurant….
• selected an arrangement familiar to what I got for my grandma….
• made the home visit alone.......
The frailty of life…
The grieving process….
Sign………..
In times of bewilderment, turmoil & perplexity, I cling on to this:
“And the peace of God which transcends all understanding
will guard your hearts and your minds
in Christ Jesus.” Phil 4:7
D, F; you know what I’ve written on the card…….
take care my Friends....
till we meet for a pizza again…….
